San Francisco Fashion: Timeless style

Posted by Angelique Rivas-Day on Wed, Jul 25, 2012 @ 02:21 PM

San Francisco Fashion, is a fusion of both timeless style and the latest trends. The opening scene of Breakfast at Tiffany’s paints the perfect image of timeless style. Audrey Hepburn pulls up to Tiffany’s and steps out of the taxi, a croissant and coffee in hand, as the enchanting melody of Moon River softly plays in the background. The camera slowly pans out to reveal Audrey in the timeless little black dress which is now viewed as the milestone of fashion of the twentieth century. As the icing on the cake, Ms. Hepburn is wearing the iconic black Oliver Goldsmith sunglasses and is ornamented with pearls and a simple tiara.

I would just like to know if there is a little girl out there who has not, at one point or another, acted out this scene in their mother's pearls and high heels? Timeless fashion is a thread that weaves through the closets of women around the world, styles that were first drawn out by legends such as Coco Chanel and Christian DiorTimeless San Francisco fashion

The key to timeless style is simplicity and confidence of the fabulous women who live their lives in it. Though one could argue that because of its longevity timeless style deserves far more esteem then the trends that come and go, it is these trends that define an era and make the world remember their generation's vision. For who does not want to be the trendy woman, walking down Powell street, with the over sized blazer, studded pumps and the chunky jewelry that all together screams “I’m fearless”?Trendy Fashion in San Francisco

San Francisco fashion is a daring celebration of the two, it is a city bustling with women and men that walk the streets as fiercly as if it were a cat walk. In today's world, we can be both fearless and classic, that same chic girl walking down Powell Street could be walking through the doors of the classic Kensington Park Hotel. Proving that we do not have to choose! Give me a leather jacket but let me add my vintage pearls.

That is San Francisco Fashion!

Personality Hotels takes a new spin on traditional meeting spaces

Posted by Nicole Redding on Wed, Jul 18, 2012 @ 04:25 PM

Take a break from your traditional conference or “bored” room and experience Personality Hotels’ “Think Tanks”.

Traditional meeting spaces can be such a bore and at Personality Hotels we believe that in order to create great ideas, you need equally great, unique and thought-provoking meeting spaces.

We have all experienced going to off-site brainstorming or planning sessions in the sterile confines of a hotel conference room. Sure you were able to escape to a new location, but how creative did you really feel being stuck in meeting spaces that lacked the personality need to inspire?

Personality Hotels’ Think Tanks are a creative alternative to those monotonous meeting spaces you’re used to.

As you know, meeting spaces that look and feel creative can energize your leaders and managers to think differently and act differently.

Get out of the box and come into one of Personality Hotels’ Think Tanks!

SF Pride 2012

Posted by Nicole Redding on Thu, Jun 21, 2012 @ 01:40 PM

We have the ins and outs of everything SF Pride 2012

First thing, first!

What is SF Pride 2012?

PrideBlog resized 600

Let's go back into time. June 28, 1969, the police raided the Stonewall Inn in New York's Greenwich Village which sparked the Stonewall riots. This was one of the first well-known instances of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender rebellion. One year later to the date, on June 28, 1970 the first Pride was held in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

Back to the present SF Pride 2012 marks the 42nd anniversary of the San Francisco Pride Celebration and Parade. Now, that's what we call history with personality.

When is SF Pride 2012?

Saturday, June 23 in San Francisco's Civic Center Plaza from Noon to 6:00 p.m.

Sunday, June 24 in San Francisco's Civic Center from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

SF Gay Pride Map

Where is SF Pride 2012?

San Francisco Civic Center --along Market Street begining at 10:30 a.m. on Beale Street on Saturday, June 23 in San Francisco's Civic Center Plaza.

Ok... I am convinced I am going but How do I get to SF Pride 2012?

Since SF Pride is one of the largest outdoor events, traffic will be at a stand still. Plan ahead. Take Bart or Muni. Both Bart and Muni transit systems serve the Civic Center station.

Where should I stay before or after SF Pride 2012?

If you're the Diva we think you are... Hotel Diva is the place to stay! Sexy, modern and fresh from a facelift, Hotel Diva is the most chic of Personality Hotels. Conveniently located on Geary Street just two blocks away from Neiman Marcus and Saks, Hotel Diva has a style that is attractive and architecturally appealing.

Or maybe you think you deserve to be treated like American Royalty, if that's the case, we suggest staying at the Kensington Park Hotel. A gorgeous 1925 Gothic style building, the grand and fashionable Kensington Park Hotel revisits an era of elegance, with historic San Francisco charm. The stylish lobby features hand-painted ceilings, modern artwork, and serves complimentary tea and sherry, nightly to hotel guests. Cheers!

The Perfect Pitch

Posted by Nicole Redding on Fri, Jun 15, 2012 @ 12:30 PM

Last Wednesday night's San Francisco Giants baseball game was perfect!

Perfect pitch + Perfect game = A perfect start to your weekend.

Dugout Suite

So how do you top last Wednesday night? You can start by spending the weekend celebrating in our very own Dugout Suite at the Hotel Union Square. Never before has any hotel company hit a home run with their home team, The Giants, than Hotel Union Square up at the mound, pitching its very own Dugout Suite!

Like San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain, we like being first. Did you know Matt Cain is the first San Francisco Giants pitcher since the franchise was established in 1883 to pitch a perfect game? This makes Matt Cain the 22nd pitcher in baseball history to pitch a perfect game. We think this deserves a celebration!

Fear the Beard

Now time for our Perfect Pitch:

Our spacious corner suite features "Fear the Beard" window shades, a king size bed set up that you are sure to strike it rich in and a basket full of baseball treats with cracker jacks, peanuts, bubble gum & more.

This Suite will have you "root, root, rooting for the home team!" Our Dugout Suite can be the perfect pitch to any Giants fans looking for an excuse to extend that perfect game celebration all weekend long!

Guests of the Dugout Suite will be treated to four complimentary tickets to a tour of award-winning Anchor Brewing Company, a San Francisco original since 1896 as well as a few extra goodies.

Again congratulations to Matt Cain the 1st Giants pitcher to pitch a perfect game in Giants history since 1883!

We clink our frothy Anchor Stream beers in honor of you. Cheers Matt Cain!

*Please note that the word perfect was perfectly used a total of 11 times in this blog.

Personality Hotels Shares Summer Beauty Tips

Posted by Nicole Redding on Mon, Jun 11, 2012 @ 01:00 PM

Facebook ContestPersonality Hotels wants your skin to be protected. That's why we are offering a contest on Facebook where you can enter to win a Melvita summer essential gift bag so you can start your summer off right!

Our Friends at Melvita wanted to give you some of their summer favorite tips for the summer.

Ready to bring out the bathing suits and shorts this summer? Before you do, check to make sure that you have taken care of your most important accessory; your skin.  With temperatures on the rise this season, achieving beautiful healthy skin is essential. Check out these tips for radiant sun-kissed skin from head to toe.

Tighten it up: As soon as the weather starts to warm up, the layers of clothes start coming off. Calm your fears of going bare by using a serum or oil and regular massage.

Fight the battle head on with Algascience Contouring serum.  It’s a lightweight serum that minimizes cellulite and gives skin a smoother and more toned appearance.  Use it for two consecutive months and see how quickly your skin improves.  For optimal results, don’t forget to exfoliate before applying the serum.

Say goodbye to dead skin: exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! No matter what season it is, this simple task will not only slough away those dead skin cells, it will allow a more youthful version of you to shine through.  If you love the feeling of a fresh buff daily, try using  an exfoliating bath soap.  Daily exfoliation gently removes dead skin while stimulating cells and activating blood flow. For a more rigorous buff, try a scrub with sugar or salt to slough off dead skin and reveal a glowing you.

Don’t forget the glow: Get radiant skin this season the healthy way by creating your own self tanner. Mix two drops of carrot oil in with your body lotion and moisturize your body from head to toe.  Using oil in conjunction with a moisturizer is a great way to give your skin a luxurious appeal with a natural bronzed color.  If you love adding color to your skin the old fashioned way, apply a repairing lotion directly on to your skin after sunbathing to protect and nourish your skin while reducing peeling and redness.

Follow these tips and look fabulous this summer season! And don't forget to enter to win on Facebook!

Spend your Memorial Day Weekend with Boutique Hotels in San Francisco

Posted by Nicole Redding on Wed, May 23, 2012 @ 11:00 AM

You just watched how to spend your 3-day weekend like a San Francisco local, courtesy of Personality Hotels, a collection of boutique hotels in San Francisco.

But how do you spend a 3-day weekend like a CEO/President of a collection of boutique hotels in San Francisco?

 Like this…

A message from our CEO/President Yvonne Lembi-Detert

YVONNE LEMBI-DETERT:

Memorial Day Weekend is a holiday I always wait for because it never requires “crunch time” to get things done. In fact, it’s a 3-day holiday weekend that opens up so many opportunities in San Francisco

You can get reservations at your favorite restaurant you have always been dying to try. There are actual parking spots available in SF.  And… almost everything is on sale in Union Square except for Louis, Celine, and Christian & Herman…opps I mean Hermes!

I love to begin my great finds with a stop at the Bio Café right next to my friend’s house… you know Barney’s. The very natural & yummy hemp oatmeal is to die for at Bio Café’. I know it sounds odd but it’s truly… a creamy heaven.  It gives me the energy to go straight & knock on Barney’s door for the beginning of my shopping haven. Can you say, SALE!....40% off on  my favorite designers.

The Coop floor is managed by Michael Feldman. He has the greatest finds for Vince treasures on sale and if you haven’t had enough, Helmut Lang has tons more. If you really want to be a DIVA, book an appointment with Edward Teran for all your personal shopping needs. He’s fast and he gets your style. What more could he offer besides his darling smile & honesty about what you are trying on? What about some delicious infused water by Hint. Hint is naturally flavored water by Kara Goldin, a woman who lives in SF, who might be celebrating her Memorial Day Weekend shopping next to you, if you follow my advice. Edward shares his thirst quenching water with you while you quench your thirst on your favorite fashion buys. Take a hint, and shop away guilt-free!

Next on the holiday agenda is a short jaunt in a cab to 2000 Union Street for a fabulous bistro lunch at Café des Amis. You can sit in the bistro section by the bar & pretend you are in France eating the best French fries with your bistro burger or lounge in the red velvet lounge room and sip champagne. But whatever you do, you must order the blueberry French toast for dessert. OMG!

Now you have a reason to take a long walk along SF’s Lands End. Your urban runway starts from China Beach along Land’s End to the USS SF Memorial. All shopping aside, the reason we celebrate Memorial Day in SF is to honor & remember those who have died in our nation’s service.

Leave your <3 and your weekend plans in San Francisco this Memorial Day weekend.

Happy 75th Birthday Golden Gate Bridge

Posted by Nicole Redding on Thu, May 17, 2012 @ 09:00 AM

Not many people can say they were alive to see the birth of the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge. But imagine, if you could interview someone that was there. A picture may be worth a 1000 words but a first hand interview is priceless.

Golden Gate Bridge
Personality Hotels interview with a San Francisco local,     Mr. Personality.

Golden Gate Bridge and a Sombrero

What was your favorite memory of the Golden Gate Bridge?

On May 27th, 1937, I walked accross the Golden Gate Bridge wearing a Mexican sombrero. I was going north toward Marin County and walking back toward San Francisco.  But, why the sombrero you may ask? Simply, because everyone was wearing different costumes and all I owned was a sombrero. I didn’t go out & buy a new outfit or costumes like everyone does now; I used what I had. A sombrero.

What do you remember most during the time the bridge was built?

As the construction crews were close to the finishing the Golden Gate Bridge, I rode my bike to see the final stages. I knew, I was going to walk this unbelievable monument no matter what! Even, if I had to play hooky from work. I did end up calling in sick that day. Best day I spend sick I ever had!

Golden Gate Bridge and a Bike

What was it like to be part of such a historical structure being built in your community?

It was unbelievable, I asked myself how could they construct this to fit within a single span?

Did you go to the "grand opening" of the bridge?

Yes & I walked it alone. I was 19 year old. My family did not want to go, so I went by myself. I remember that it was a beautiful day with lots of people. They were just walking back & forth across the Golden Gate Bridge. There were no vendors. It felt like it was just me and the Golden Gate Bridge enjoying each others company.

Get Golden Package

If you want to make your own memories with the Golden Gate Bridge, now is the time. On Saturday, May 27th the Golden Gate Bridge celebrates its 75th birthday. Don't miss the birthday party. Instead, plan on getting golden with Personality Hotels this weekend!
