Indian Summer Bucket List

Posted by Dana Andrews on Tue, Sep 02, 2014 @ 11:23 AM

Anyone in San Francisco from June through August knows that summer doesn't always feel like real summer here. It's quite the opposite: foggy, windy, and invariably a bit cooler. Although, we locals know that after three months of a pseudo-summer we experience every year, the more expected summer symptoms reveal themselves shortly thereafter. Alas, our annual Indian Summer! September through November one can expect consistently warmer temperatures and much, much more lounge-like afternoons and evenings. So, in celebration of warmer days ahead, we've compiled a list of to-do's (just in case you've missed them these past few months):

Hike

1. Hike this Coastal Trail from Baker Beach to the Golden Gate Bridge

2. Attend a Nightlife at the Academy of Sciences

3. Do A Station-to-Station Bay Area Bike Share Ride

4. Dance at Salsa in the Square in Union Square

Facebook ContestPersonality Hotels wants your skin to be protected. That's why we are offering a contest on Facebook where you can enter to win a Melvita summer essential gift bag so you can start your summer off right!

Our Friends at Melvita wanted to give you some of their summer favorite tips for the summer.

Ready to bring out the bathing suits and shorts this summer? Before you do, check to make sure that you have taken care of your most important accessory; your skin.  With temperatures on the rise this season, achieving beautiful healthy skin is essential. Check out these tips for radiant sun-kissed skin from head to toe.

Tighten it up: As soon as the weather starts to warm up, the layers of clothes start coming off. Calm your fears of going bare by using a serum or oil and regular massage.

Fight the battle head on with Algascience Contouring serum.  It’s a lightweight serum that minimizes cellulite and gives skin a smoother and more toned appearance.  Use it for two consecutive months and see how quickly your skin improves.  For optimal results, don’t forget to exfoliate before applying the serum.

Say goodbye to dead skin: exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! No matter what season it is, this simple task will not only slough away those dead skin cells, it will allow a more youthful version of you to shine through.  If you love the feeling of a fresh buff daily, try using  an exfoliating bath soap.  Daily exfoliation gently removes dead skin while stimulating cells and activating blood flow. For a more rigorous buff, try a scrub with sugar or salt to slough off dead skin and reveal a glowing you.

Don’t forget the glow: Get radiant skin this season the healthy way by creating your own self tanner. Mix two drops of carrot oil in with your body lotion and moisturize your body from head to toe.  Using oil in conjunction with a moisturizer is a great way to give your skin a luxurious appeal with a natural bronzed color.  If you love adding color to your skin the old fashioned way, apply a repairing lotion directly on to your skin after sunbathing to protect and nourish your skin while reducing peeling and redness.

Follow these tips and look fabulous this summer season! And don't forget to enter to win on Facebook!
