Personality Hotels Hearts The Giants!

Posted by Nathalie Toribio on Fri, Apr 18, 2014 @ 11:16 AM

Let's play ball! Grab some cracker jacks, a Ghirardelli Sundae, an order of garlic fries, and a Cha Cha Bowl because the 2014 MLB season has officially started and with a big bang! With a splash walk-off homerun, grand slam by a pitcher, spectacular fireworks show, almost inside-the-park-HR by the White Shark, you would think I was talking about a whole season of highlights, however these are just the highlights of opening week!

Photo Apr 18, 1 28 24 PM.jpg

The boys in orange and black have shown great enthusiasm and one can only imagine what the rest of the season will be like! If you are not a season ticket holder, but want to go to a few games with some fun giveaways, here are a couple of my favorite ones:

Sat, Apr 26 1954 Replica World Series Ring
Sat, Jun 7 Sergio Romo Super Hero Socks
Sun, Jun 8 Hello Kitty ® Giants Plush
Sun, Jun 15 Giants Father's Day Necktie
Sat, Jun 28 Brandon Belt or Brandon Crawford Bobblehead
Sun, Jul 13 Angel Pagan Bobblehead
Sat, Aug 16 Virgin America 2-for-1 Flight Voucher
Sun, Aug 31 Star Wars Day - R2D2 Beanie

But most importantly, going to the baseball game is not just watching men in uniform hit a ball, it’s more of an experience, which I feel can even be compared to a day in Disneyland. Once a year, The Giants put together an awesome experienced-filled day, where you can purchase tickets for the game, and separately pay $800 to have a family of 4 sleep on the field. All of us Giants’ fans would love to camp out in on the field of dreams, but not all of us have a grand to spend. So, if you want to save some money but still have an amazingly memorable baseball experience from sun up to sun down, boy do I have the best secret in the world to share… are you ready?

So, you have a special birthday coming up, a girls night out? Or maybe you want to give Dad the best Father’s Day gift ever, and you don’t have $800 extra to spend to have a sleepover on the field, well no need to fear, Personality is here! Did you know that there is a hotel, that is about a 20 minute flat walk away from the ballpark, and only steps away from the Powell Bart Station, that has a room designated for a baseball fan? Yep, it’s true, Personality Hotels has designed a Dugout Suite at Hotel Union Square with orange walls, Giants memorabilia and was god fathered by the MVP and Cy Young winner - Mr. Vida Blue himself! So why not purchase the tickets, bring over the pup, and the parents, and go to the game while staying in this amazing king sized bed junior suite that is dog friendly? Oh, and if that’s not enough, get ready to throw on some Art of Shaving product before heading out to cheer on the Giants.

Use Your Smartphone as a Room Key

Posted by Megan Brandt on Fri, Mar 07, 2014 @ 02:14 PM

Personality Hotels is excited to be the first on the West Coast to offer guests of Hotel Diva and Hotel Union Square the opportunity to use their smartphone to open their hotel room door. CNET TV recently interviewed our CEO Yvonne Detert about our new technology and before we knew it, our feature was live on CBS News! Check out our video clip below!

[Excerpt from CBS News]

If you've ever lost your hotel key card or had it accidentally demagnetized, some hotels may have a high-tech solution. At the Personality Hotels chain, in the San Francisco area, guests can now use their smartphones to unlock their hotel room doors.

When guests check into the hotel, they can download the free Personality Hotels app onto their smartphone. Once the front desk assigns a room, it alerts the app. When they reach the door to their room, all guests have to do is press the key icon to emit a sound that activates the door sensor and unlocks the door.

"I think our guests are embracing that because they're right here where all the high technology and new technology is happening," Yvonne Detert, the president and CEO of Personality Hotels.

How the Panama Canal brought us Hotel Union Square.

Posted by Domitille Montoro on Thu, Apr 25, 2013 @ 02:13 PM

collage pan pacific resized 600After the big 1906 earthquake and the fire that followed, San Francicso became a pile of rubble. It needed to get back up quickly to show the whole world that the City was still alive. What better way than an International Exhibition to do so. World Fairs were extremely popular at the time and attracted visitors from around the world. A few years later began the development of many hotels and the various Palaces of the Pan Pacific International Exhibition, located on the newly land filled, Marina District.

Today the idea of having this kind of event seems a bit preposterous, but at the time it was a great way for people to gather from all over the world and showcase their scientific discoveries. The San Francisco 1915 Fair was homage to the construction of the Panama Canal, which was a monumental success of its own.

Among other historic technical achievements, the fair visitors were presented with the wonders of the time including, transportation, machinery and the latest developments in electrical devices. The first transcontinental phone call was done during the fair, it was the end of horse carriages and the real beginning of automobiles.

The Palace of Fine Arts is one of the few remaining buildings from the exhibition and the only one still standing at its original place. It was saved from demolition by the perseverance of Phoebe Apperson Hearst and the Palace Preservation League she created at the time. This building, like the others was not supposed to last, so the entire Palace was rebuilt in 1965 with more durable materials. In 1969 it became the home of the Exploratorium. The new Exploratorium opened on April 17th on Pier 15 but San Franciscan’s dear Palace of Fine Art is still in place and will soon be home to something else.

We are proud to say that the first Personality Hotel, Hotel Union Square was built in 1913 for the 1915 Exhibition. Known as the Golden West Hotel when it opened, the Hotel changed names several times over the years but its spirit remains intact. As soon as you walk into the lobby you are welcomed by the two Egyptian inspired mosaics that have been keeping an eye on the hotel guests for 100 years and the art deco feel is still very present. The hotel is a visually stimulating fusion of contemporary and classic San Francisco - beautiful brick walls, signature staircases, and opulent moldings are complemented by a rich color palate. Next time you come to San Francisco, make sure you take a look at Hotel Union Square.

A Five Star Yelp Elite Event @ the Hotel Diva

Posted by Nicole Redding on Wed, Apr 25, 2012 @ 05:01 PM

San Francisco's boutique hotel chain, Personality Hotels are known for gaping the distance between residence and hotel: providing guests the best of home life in the most desirable environment away from home. And now thanks to YelpSF, last night Personality Hotels was able to let its hair down and showcase a different side of its "Personality."Yelp Elite Blog image copy resized 600So what is all the Yelping about?

According to Yelp :
  • Yelp was founded in 2004 to help people find great local businesses like dentists, hair stylists and mechanics

Why we <3 Yelp: Real People, Real Reviews!

The Who's Who of Vendors:

(Following the vendors' photos from left to right)

Picayune Cellars-- Picayune is pronounced {pi-ka-’yun}. Where Picayune comes from is Spain. It is a Spanish coin worth half of the value of a “real” one.

Mission Minis-- Big things, come in small packages! No wonder Mission Minis made it to the television show "Cupcake Wars!"

T-We--T-We Tea's motto is ‘we are tea,’ they strive to create an all-encompassing community of tea drinkers.

Hey Cookie-- is a Yelp 5-star bakery located in the Castro. What's more famous than their cookies is Christa's Personality!

Blue Moon-- Blue Moon was established in 1995 at "The Sandlot" in Dever, Colorado. It didn't take long before Blue Moon won the World's Beer Championship 3 years in a row for their Belgian White.

San Franola-- It's all about the granola with these guys. They put the 'goodness' back into granola.

Rosenblumcellars-- Rosenblum Cellars is all about the Zin. Rosenblum Cellars is home of some of the highest rated, most-awarded Zins from California’s most highly regarded vineyards.

5th Stitch Collective-- is a men's and women's clothing store located in the Castro. Ask about their Terrariums!

REMRIDG Wines-- is owned by the husband and wife team Jeff and Karen Roberts and a few long-time friends, REMRIDG Wines is a vineyard-driven wine brand. REMRIDG Wines sources 100% of its grapes from FARM Napa Valley clients.

Farm+Cellar-- is grown organically from the media powerhouse that is Third Street Works, Farm+Cellar represents the combination of several proven talents from the advertising, filmmaking, education, food, wine and hospitality industries.

Sudwerks Brewing-- Since it was established in 1989, Ron Broward, Dean Unger and Brewmaster Jay Prahl have been producing award winning lager.

See what some of these Yelpers had to said about us @ the Hotel Diva:

Maria S. said, "You don't need to be a Diva to go here, but you'll feel like one afterwards."

Moua L. said, "Thank you to the YELP team for making these events memorable and Hotel Diva staff for treating us like royalty."

Noel M. said, "I walk past Hotel Diva daily but never gave it a second thought beyond the burlesque-esk window shades.  Inside the vibe continues, this isn't your everyday hotel.  For instance, the themed room packages are unique and if you put a techno beat in the elevators, you've got a party."

Special thanks to photographers, Jorge Nova and Jeremiah. Thank you to DJ SonnyPhono for all the Diva Classics!

This all was made possible because of Yelp's finest: Jennifer, Nique and Ruggy!

Last but not least, thank you to our partners Perrier for supplying the sparkling water to all of the Yelp Elite writers!

Like what you've read then "Like Us" on Facebook, "Follow us" on Twitter or simply spend the night at one of our hotels to see what all the Yelping is really about!

A Speakeasy Affair in the Penthouse at Hotel Union Square

Posted by Danika Garlotta on Fri, Mar 23, 2012 @ 12:31 PM

speakeasyblog

On March 14th we decided to have a swanky Speakeasy Affair at the Penthouse in Hotel Union Square. It was absolutely fabulous! We dressed in your typical speakeasy party attire – boas and all, and partnered with the masterminds behind the iconic Gold Dust and Lefty O’douls of San Francisco.

017 img 1982

Those who were lucky enough to be invited were greeted by a walkway of candles leading up the Hotel Union Square Penthouse and served classic speakeasy cocktails such as The Bronx, Diamond Hitch and the Stinger. Yummy appetizers were served throughout the night and every moment was captured in our dress up area where people could get in the mood with hats, mustaches and boas.

One thing that our hotel group is known for is the canny ability to throw a good party – afterall we are PERSONALITY hotels!
